The media would save the country a lot of time and money in future court cases by reporting the nefarious efforts of the state governments who are trying to block gay marriage and the implementation of protections for the civil rights of gay people.
It would also save people's lives. The Supreme Court ruling does a lot to recognize gay people as human beings who deserve respect. Disrespecting people on a regular basis is a process of dehumanization, which leads inevitably to violence against the targets, up to and including murder and even genocide.
