How many times have mass shootings been blamed on "the mentally ill," as if ever being diagnosed with a mental illness makes you permanently suspect, even if you have never initiated any violence in your life? When those accusations happen, there is never a word about the constant promotion of violence by the entertainment industry or by anyone else who sends out the message that hurting people for no reason is admirable.
