I have never had a credit card, which is why I don't have much of a credit history. I have never had debt problems, and I pay my student loans every month.
I checked with Credit Karma at the suggestion of a realtor who told me that his agency won't consider prospective tenants whose credit score is below 700.
These are my credit scores, according to Credit Karma:
TransUnion 668 Fair
Equifax 630 Poor

I can't believe that I am homeless and yet have to consider getting a credit card and buying on credit, just so I can raise my credit scores for landlords.
I just did a search of the term "get a credit card." This is a picture of the first page of the first website that I went to from that search:
