Has it not occurred to the people who keep advertising the Mary Kay Letourneau story that she took over her student's life and made him emotionally ill for years? Of course he felt like a freak with everyone who wasn't her, especially with all the publicity around her abuse of him. He probably felt that she, the creator of their totally dysfunctional relationship, was the only one who "understood" and accepted him.
Even now, when he is of adult age and could get away from her, he's brainwashed by her and by the sick conglomerate which wants to make child rape legal. I'm sure that Ms. Letourneau is thrilled by her apparently imminent, celebrity status.
