The Woods Mullen shelter in Boston is a Boston Public Health Commission shelter. It was made into an all-female shelter this year. Homeless women who have gone to the Woods Mullen shelter since it was turned into an all-female shelter have told me that:
-The third floor only has a group shower room. If you are given a bed on the third floor and you want to take a shower, you have to shower with no privacy.
-The beds are all right next to each other.
-The staff won't turn the lights off at night. You have to sleep with the fluorescent lights on all night.
-It is filthy.
