A young, white man walked past me and coughed, a few minutes ago, at the laundromat. I said "Don't do that again." He turned and said, in the same, belligerent tone of voice that the older man had used an hour and a half ago, "Oh yeah? Why?"
I said "Because I'm as deserving of respect as anybody else."
In the same rude tone of voice that the older man had used with his non-apology, the young man said "Oh, OK. Thank you for the info."
At least he walked away after that and stopped his aggressive behavior toward me for the time being.
